Times were hard for a young gal growing up on the prairies of South Eastern Saskatchewan in the 1930s. My Mother was one of these Prairie Girls. Having a store bought purse was out of the question..... but she and her sisters found a way to be creative and have some fun. They would decorate their Dad’s old cigar boxes with scrap wall paper, calendars, and fabric, carry it as a clutch, and away they’'d go.
I loved this idea, took it a few steps further, embellishing with images, hardware, faux fur inside with a mirror.... and hence the “ ' Prairie Purse ' was born.
There are no 2 alike. I have premade purses with different themes, or I would be thrilled to make you a custom purse with your own images and favorite colors.
